Out with the old.

2 years ago, whilst in a dead end job answering calls for a London law firm where they had banned us from using Facebook I came across a friends blog. Immediately it sucked me in, which lead me onto another and another and another and there started my obsession with reading blogs.

A hop, skip and a jump later I'm in Portugal, living a life that some can only dream about and this blog is now looking rather rusty.

With the help of my darling and rather talented other half this weekend we will be setting up

Lots of exciting changes and more adventures coming this way soon, please stick with me.

Bikini Lust.

Today I'm having a seriously pathetic first world problem, I'm spending all my time at the beach, I only have 2 bikinis so now I need a new one. It's funny how even though I'm basically wearing bikinis, shorts and a top everyday I still feel the need to buy more clothes, even though I don't need them.

Serious bikini shopping can only take place at one store for me, Agent Provocateur.
More famous perhaps for it's range of sexy lingerie or this Kylie advert (whit whoo) Seriously boys, you can't ever go wrong if you're buying your lady a gift from here.

Aren't these bikinis just gorgeous? Maybe I can do without the tasselled one though, I'm not sure the Indonesian locals would approve..

You know you want to,

Round and Round and Round

I don't know about you but I'm a sucker for a quirky look and this summer for me nothing is more darling or quirky then a pair of awesome round sunglasses...

The one with the drunk Kiwi.

When my friend Tom asked me a few weeks back if I wanted to come along to Optimus Alive! festival in Lisbon I obviously jumped at the chance. The festival itself being only an hour away from where N and I live in Portugal and of course getting to spend time with Tom, who's not only lovely but with the added bonus of watching him play with White Lies.

With sunny skies and great music, this weekend was clearly going to be a winner.

We took with us our little brother/sister Courteney from New Zealand, who had never been to a music festival before, never heard of a rider and can't say no to a free beer...disaster.

Courtney and N having a few beers when we arrive.

Courtney and a very excited moi, getting ready for Angus and Julia Stone, who were of course wonderful (but they didn't play Mango Tree!)

As the night rolled on we were blissfully unaware that the main stage was closed for the evening. We started raving to pass the time.

and kept raving..

and raving..

you get the picture, the dance stage was a lot of fun. The Portuguese love their house music.

Team Rave.

The main stage came back to life later on that evening we had a little bounce around to 30 Seconds to Mars (Jared Leto is still yummy) and it was time to head back to our hotel in the outskirts of the city.

On the Saturday White Lies rocked the Portuguese fans, it's so much fun to see the die hard fans who know every word singing, bouncing around clapping. If you look very closely you can see Tommy pulling his sulky keyboard sex face ;)

A few hours of being spoilt by backstage hospitality we all headed to the side of the main stage to watch Paramore, and boy can Hayley Williams command a crowd, rock red hair and pull off two tone trousers, that girl is beautiful.

A brief photo with Tom before going back to perving on Hayley.

Feeling like rock stars we said our good byes and headed home to our quiet coastal life in sleepy rural Portugal. Going to the local salt festival yesterday kind of brought us back down to earth with a bump!

Thank you dear Tom for a lovely weekend, can't wait to see you again soon.

Sunday Style.

Inspired by my weekend at Optimus Alive! Festival in Lisbon these are my favourite festival styles from the web this week...

Always keep it simple, short shorts and plain tees. Picture via here

If you can pull off white, do it. So hot. Picture via here

I love the long flowing skirt and lace tee look. Picture via here

I'm still MAJORLY in love with the top knot, ultimate festival accessory when it's beastly hot. This girl looks gorgeous in a printed top and knitted top. Picture via here

Backstage pass optional.

The one with the announcement

WE'RE MOVING TO PORTLAND.

That is all.

Sunday 3 July 2011

The one where they went to the zoo.

The other week N and I were due to pick up his best friend Rob from Lisbon airport his flight was arriving late in the evening. Now instead of spending yet another day at the beach (it's a tough life) we thought we'd spend the day visiting Lisbon Zoo. N and I are both nuts on zoos and the thought of spending a lovely sunny day watching the animals was very appealing.

Being a Thursday we practically had the whole zoo to ourselves apart from the cutest little children on school trips wearing their little sun hats, so adorable that we didn't mind.
Even though the zoo is fairly small we spent 8 hours wondering around in the beautiful sunshine amazed at how close we could get to the animals. The zoo even has a little stand up cable car which flies you high above the zoo and even dangles you above the lions enclosure-eek!

If you're ever in Lisbon or find yourself stranded at the bus station (the zoo is opposite!) the zoo is a fun day out.

Here are a few snaps from our day...

The one where Emily gives up dairy...

Holy fudge pops my head feels as though it's in a vice, being slowly squished by someone very cruel and stupidly it's all my own fault as I have decided to give up dairy products.

My sweet beloved bowls of cereal, my darling pieces of cheese and my partner in crime Chocolate have all been binned and as of last Tuesday I have gone cold turkey.

You remember that scene in Trainspotting where Ewan McGregor's fictional parents lock him in a room and make him go cold turkey? Well my flat is looking very much like that skanky Scottish bedroom and I've pretty sure during all the headaches and sweating I saw a dead baby crawling along my ceiling.... Okay not really but you know the withdrawal season has been pretty horrendous.

Now I can deal with headaches and sweats, they're easy, but the nausea oh god the nausea is a right royal pain in the arse as it's making me not want to eat at all, harumpf, pout pout.

Cutting dairy out of your diet is hard.

I've been struggling to find things to eat that don't include cheese, cream, milk or butter especially in Portugal where the main snack is a mista (ham and cheese sandwich) eating out is very hard.
Breakfast is also a little upsetting as I used to enjoy cheese and fresh bread then a bowl of cereal but sadly for me it's fruit, fruit and more fruit.

I'm hoping that by tomorrow (day 7) I'll be over the worst of it and at least have my appetite back.

Xx

Ps N comes back tomorrow, I'm so excited I could burst I hate being away from him.
